tuxedo courtnix quail eggs need advice on hatching and caring for them

I'll try for the basics here, a tux quail is made of two color genes. google "Punnett square". I copied pasted the diagram below so the reference letters are incorrect here, but if you imagine the "Aa" being used as the color code for the parent stock, A=Black, a=White, you will see that hypothetically if you breed two Tuxedos together and they laid only 4 eggs, 1 chick would be black, 2 chicks would be Tux and 1 would be white.

All that to say this, tux do not breed true 100% of the time, the BEST they can hope for is 50% of their offspring to display some tux color pattern.


That is why the other posters are saying for you to get 100% of a Tux pattern through flea bay is pretty much an impossibility. There is a list of breeders in the stickies, you would probably get healthier birds and genetic material to work with from there.

I wish you good luck with your hatch though and would like to see you follow up on your post here to your results.
