TV cooks

Love watching Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Guy always go the greatest places and gets to eat some awesome looking food.
We too like to watch Good Eats. If I choose to watch a certain show on Food Network it will always be Giada at Home................dont really notice the food much though

Double thumbs up on Guy Fieri.

Good Eats makes cooking fun and interesting & I love Alton Brown! He's funny. The whole world would be smarter if there were more teachers like him, but he's pretty rare.

Good Eats is great! I also like the food challenge shows - there's always a disaster with somebody's cake, chocolate, sugar, etc.

Wow, I never realized there were so many other people who liked good eat. I am a huge fan, the sife says I have a crush, but I can't help it I have an (un)healthy respect for the guy. What I like most about his show is that he teaches you how to cook instead of telling you the recipe. It has made me a better cook knowing what is going on with the food and if anything goes wrong I know why and how to fix it.
Also babylady 4, I agree with you on Racheal Ray, I just cannot stand her.

I enjoy all the cooking shows too. But what I really want to see is a chef's challenge a la real world:

Scenario:
4 famous celebrity chefs in a timed competition - 30 minutes to come up with dinner from "what's in the frig tonight" to feed a family of four with 1 or 2 people having dietary restrictions, while simultaneously supervising 2 children with homework on the kitchen table AND 3 loads of laundry. For extra hazards, lets throw in a large friendly dog to trip over.

I just wanna see it. Sure, how hard is it to come up with fabulous meals with tables loaded with the best produce and freshest meats in the world to chose from, and kitchen gadgets out the wazoo? I would be MOST amused to watch them sweat it like us everyday Joes.

Racheal Ray.....ugh, I'm starting to hate her already since she got her show.

I adore that southern lady and her sons! Paula Deen and her chickens, who could forget that one!

Julia Child, well, I don't know whether to hate her or to love her...more like a love and hate relationship.

Two Fat Ladies, despise them!

I would love to see that as well. Having to make dinner every day really made me appreciate what my mother went through.

The other chef that gets a lot of respect in this house is Mario Batali. Really good food and a lot of it is super simple to prepare.

Rachel Ray is ok. I don't watch her, but at least her 30 Minute Meals used real food. Unlike the Epitome of Hate, Sandra Lee. Rachel showed a lot of people that cooking a good, homemade meal does not have to be an all day, fussy thing. Sandra shows people they can open a box. Ugh.

Food and cooking are near and dear subjects in this house. Very little processed, pre-prepared food- pretty much none. We make our own stocks for sauces and soups, grind and stuff our own sausage, buy almost no meat from the supermarket anymore, and grow as much as we can of our own vegetables. Cooking is fun! And it doesn't need to be a chore. Hubby has quite a few favorite recipes he can get on the table in about an hour. Sundays are reserved for the stuff that takes hours and hours.
