hello to everyone. am excited to have found out about this site! I started off with 12 hens almost 2 years ago. They are a variety of breeds. I did lose one a month ago she had a broken egg inside. It was a very sad experience for me. But talking to other "chicken" people from around my area they said they had lost quite afew more "girls" so I must be doing something right!

I'm sorry for your loss.

Sometimes hens become unhealthy or injured, and don't make it. If you ever suspect one of your girls has something wrong with her, feel free to post in the "Emergencies, Injuries, Diseases and Cures" section of the forum so that you know what might be wrong with her and try to help her. Glad you joined!

Hi there,

and welcome to BYC!

Laying issues with hens are quite common. And in the end, usually it is a reproductive issues that does kill them. But I am glad you are enjoying your flock!

Good luck with your babies!
