A lot of people have read the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series. And Im pretty sure a lot more people have at least heard of them.

I've heard a bunch of debate on which is every ones favorite. I was just curious if anyone had some polite opinions. (that includes no flaming please!) Im talking about the story lines and the plots, not : actors, acting, special effects, ect.

this is pretty much more about the books than the movie, but even if you haven't read the books, you can still talk about the plot, story, characters, ect. ect.

This thread is pretty much a friendly debate on Harry Potter vs Twilight, so let the debate begin!

The Harry Potter books are better written. The character development and plots are stronger. The Twilight books are still a good read, just not a stongly written as Harry Potter.

My big issue with the Twilight series is the main character's attitude. The whole "I can't live without this man" thing. Seriously? Is that what we want to teach our teenage and preteen girls? That death is preferable than life without this boy we met in high school? No man is worth killing yourself over. Period. At least in the Potter books the girls are just as strong in mind and spirit as the boys. Seems a healthier attitude all around.

I completely 100% agree with CityGirlintheCountry.

Harry Potter is by far better reading material. Better thought out, better plot, characters are more believable. Rather than you taking the place of the character (as in Twilight, written in first person) you are able to become any one of the characters or simply decide to sit back and envision the entire scene in Harry Potter.

And, I'm sure all of us females have our own little fantasies, but it's doubtful that they would ever be published. It honestly seems as though the book was taken from Stephanie Meyer's diary instead of written as a story for another reader.

CityGirl stated my opinion exactly.

If one wants a good vampire book, one needs to read Anne Rice's stuff.

Twilight has a VERY long way to go before they get any where near Harry Potter. I don't care that they have Huffelpuff now. (That's what we call Rob)

TWO MORE WEEKS GUYS!!!!!

I think they are very different styles, but both very enjoyable. I prefer Harry Potter in the sense that they didn't destroy the characters and story in the process of making the movies
