Twitter?!?

Places like Twitter are a constant attempt to make people feel their lives are more important than they really are. It's this self-importance, trophy for everyone society that has led to an increase in narcissistic attitudes in young children. The idea that you deserve the attention of the world because you got up today is ludicrous and quite honestly disgusting.

It does not surprise me that sites like these are so popular. There is a whole generation and a half of people who are desperate to "matter" to someone since they couldn't seem to get the attention of the people who they should have mattered the most to - their parents!

Uh oh, I think I'm bordering on a rant here, so I shall let it go....

There, much better now. Thanks.

Well, I don't know. I like Facebook. I've found a few people I'd lost touch with in real life, people who I know who are across the country, or waaaay far away, like in Iraq, who I can keep in touch with on a personal level. Twittering is literally an endless drone of consciousness, I have enough to keep track of my own, I can't be bothered keeping track of thousands of others!

I haven't a clue what Twitter is....I thought it was just a fancy word for Blogging (which I also don't really know what that is/means).... so even after reading what everyone else has posted on this topic am I still way off on my thinking?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!

the fact that the so called news talks about it everynight is very anoying to me I could care less who is twittering what and all that, but then again I did not learn to text until this past fall so I am very behind the times.

Blogging is a web log - kind of like a diary but tends to be more event/story based. I actually have a blog but I am really bad about posting on it. It's literally been weeks since I posted anything.

Twitter is more of a "real time" place. Where people apparently go to just babble on endlessly about what they are wearing, where the ate and who they saw. Blah, blah, blah. All splash no content.

The very fact that Katie Couric and Entertainment Tonight talk about Twitter means I never need to actually go there!! Seriously on the news? What the heck happened to Walter Cronkite? Does anyone else miss REAL,. ACTUAL FACT BASED reporting????

Oh, I do have a MySpace...I actually had forgotten I had it for over a year. I went back recently but only when I get a message in my email that one of my friends from way back has emailed me.

And, I do have a Facebook page too. I go there to harvest my crops and talk to my SIL or some of the folks I was friends with in school. I find the site itself to be disorganized and messy - like a teenagers bedroom.

The only other social networking site I ever signed up to was Cafemom. But even that has turned into a "If you don't share my opinion then I'll get you kicked off" place. Freedom of speech and ideas has totally been replaced by McMansions and Stepford Wives.

I for one dont Twitter, I am waiting to see if this whole World Wide Web thing really catches on before I move up to the next step. I do have a facebook thing, but only have 2 friends, and one is my wife, not sure if I know how to get back to it.
