Two baby chicks hatched, wrong mom on eggs...

She definitely seems to be a good mama for never doing this before . We're up to three babies! And apparently Helga doesn't want the responsibility she's just abandoned another nest and is currently taking a dirt bath in the sun...

My broody was a hatchery chick and she was a fantastic mama. We only had one hiccup where she went to roost and one of the chicks couldn't figure out how to get in. It was 3 weeks old at that point, so it must have just forgotten. We had to catch it put it to bed, but now they are 7-8 weeks old and starting to be independent of mama.

I vote give her a few more days then candle the eggs to see if they are viable.

So it sounds like Helga incubated them to hatch, but Benny is taking over to raise the chicks. Interesting family dynamics!
