Two brooders for chicks in one flock?

Happy hatchling season everyone!

I realized today that my new girls are crowded, or will be when they get a week older. I don’t have one big container, but two smaller ones would do.

Would you split them up and then continually mix up who is in what container? Or reintroduce them as two separate flocks when transferring to the outdoor coop?

I thought I saw on this site someone cut "doors" in the 2 bins and put them together so the chicks could go back and forth between the 2 bins.

How many chicks total?

I'd get a much bigger brooder, or simply brood in the coop if you can run heat out there.
