Hi I’m new to the forum and w hens!
I had two broody hens so I bought fertilized eggs for them.
Yesterday one was breaking thru but I came home to the baby killed. So sad 😞
I separated the two broody hens from the rest. Later two more hatched but the one broody went after the baby so I took that broody out.
Now it’s just the one broody w the two babies. Waiting on a third to peak thru.

Help?? Why would that broody hurt/kill the baby? Cause it wasn’t hers?

Cause it wasn’t hers?
Yes.
Unless the hens got along very well before going broody, allowing two broody hens to set near each other can lead to disaster.
I only let one hen set at a time and I graft her to a broody nest in the maternity ward so she can be seen by the flock and visited but is generally left to do her thing. Anyone else gets it in her head she wants to be a mom, she gets clocked in the broody breaker for three 3 days to change her mind.

Two broody hens (bantams) are sitting on one clutch. It takes both little hens to cover all the eggs and they sit side by side. This looks like a disaster on the way when those eggs hatch.
Any advice?

Also, this flock is mixed breeds of bantam Auraucana and Seebright. 2 little hens and 2 larger hens.
I found this nest this morning only because one of the larger hens was making a fuss in front of the bush hiding the nest. I don't know what to make of it. Please - some guidance?
