We got our chicks two days ago. We got three plymouth rocks and two red sexlinks. They seemed to be in good health and were running around peeping softly, exept yesterday we had to separate the red sexlinks from the plymouth rocks because two of the plymouth rocks were chasing the red sexlinks around pecking thier beaks. Today, one of the red sexlinks was pecking the other, and I realised she had pasty butt. I treated it and checked the others just in case. I discovered one of the plymouth rocks had it. I treated it too but am wondering if there is something wrong?

My chicks also got pasty butt at a few days old (3 maybe). It's often due to stress - being too cold or too hot is a common cause of stress. Check your temp but be assured that it will go away soon! Just keep checking all of them a couple times per day. My chicks are 10 days old and it's mostly cleared up!

Our brooder box is at about 33 degrees celcius which is the recommendation for newborn chicks and they seem to be comfortable wherever in the brooder box
