Hi all,

Order chickens from Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, MO. Not too far from McIntosh County, Oklahoma. They were shipped yesterday (MONDAY, 5th) and did not arrive this morning.

I called them and they said they would be fine if they didn't arrive until Wednesday or even Thursday!!!

What do you guys think about that??

DonnaBelle,

Goats, chickens, dogs, horses, quail, and one DH

Sounds fine to me.

Chicks are tougher than they look.

Just got two separate orders from Cackle last week both were over 30 chicks only one did not make it . They shipped one on Monday that came in on Wednesday and one on Wednesday that came in on Friday. A lot of times it is up to the P.O. and the weather conditions to determine how they do. I always keep some sugar/water and chick starter at hand for immediate use in post office parking lot. Good luck show us pics of chicks when they arrive (hopefully safe and sound:fl )

I think two days is fine provided the chicks aren't exposed to low temperatures that they can't overcome by huddling together. Theoretically, chicks can tolerate at least 72 hours without food or water because they're absorbed the egg yoke immediately prior to hatching.
