Are you referring to the pine pelleted bedding like used in hhorse stalls that requires a light hosing to break down? If so, you would be better off with just dry pine shavings because the pelleted breaks down into a dust which is hard on them.
But what is more important....the hay in the run. Get it out of there and keep it out. Hay and straw gets wet and it gets moldy, mold will kill them in a flash! Only use hay or preferably straw in their indoor nest boxes.
Chickens need a dry environment, the sand will be fine in the run but get rid of that hay and inside the coop use pine only shavings make sure there is no cedar in the shavings also.
How much ventilation is in your coop? You may also have a moisture problem inside if you do not have adequate ventilation preferably up high at eave height, windows and etc are necessary and great for ventilation in larger coops.
Good luck.
