A few days ago, when I went out to the coop, one of my 8month old hens was lying in the coop dead beside the nest boxes. She had no apparent signs of disease. Today, I went out to the run and found another hen dead, this time in the run, with no apparent signs of disease.
Our small flock of (used to be ) 5 hens had a small loss of feathers on their back between the wings, but it has been going on for over a month, they were dusted for mites, and we were told it was probably due to a little stress as the temperatures rise here is Mesa, Arizona.
The only strange behavior we have noticed was the hens becoming slightly skiddish this last week and the rooster becoming a tad more aggressive.
What could the problem be? any ideas? Thanks!
