Hi,
I had 5 chickens yesterday. All appeared healthy with no problems. This morning, one of the younger ones (about 3 months) and one of the older ones (about 1 1/2 years) were very weak. They were shivering and could hardly walk. They wouldn't eat or drink. Very listless. This afternoon, the younger one has died. The older one appears close to death. About 2 weeks ago, I found one dead in the coop. I had no indication that one had any problems. Could there be a virus that's spreading? I've cleaned out the coop. What now? Any help is appreciated.

What is their poop like? Notice any blood, runny poop?Changes in Chickens poop is usually an indication that something is wrong.Any fluid leaking from eyes, nostrils? Have you introduced any new chickens to flock? This could be several things, more info is needed.

Thanks. The 1st one that died a couple of weeks ago, I had no indication of anything. That was prior to two new chickens that were introduced about a week ago. The older one that's on her way out, appears to have runny poop. I noticed no fluid leaking from either the dead young one or the older dying one. Thanks for the help.

What about cocci? Cocci acts quickly, and kills fast. If treating them for cocci, you need to get corid, dosage is,- corid powder - 1/2 tsp per gallon, corid liquid - 2 tsp per gallon. Treat for 5 days.

The older one is now dead. There was pretty substantial clear fluid leaking from the nostrils and mouth.

Sounds like something other than cocci. I am sure someone on forum, will have an idea of what you are dealing with. I am sorry i cannot help you.
