Two ducks have open wounds on their breastbones. What is going on?

1 male 1 female
both free range
Have been penned up for two weeks due to foot problems.
Both have been on antibiotics to treat foot problems.
I feed all of my ducks Mazuri waterfowl feed and cracked corn.
The cuts are right on the breastbone on both ducks.

gosh. were they born like that or, they suddently just have it? I feed my duck mazuri only. maybe its because of the cracked corn? im not sure. please send me a picture.

I have 20 ducks free range and none of the others are having issues.

That pic sort of alarms me. Is that a puncture wound, perfectly round? Thinking of the possible ways a duck might get injured around here, I just can't think of anything that would produce an injury looking like that. So I guess I would just look about the environment to see if you find something. I think 2 ducks, both confined, with same injury in same location, well that makes me think environment. Sorry I'm not much help. Not knowing how deep that "cut" is, I'm not even sure what kind of advice to give you in regards to treating it.

A dog tooth, a large nail, could make a round puncture wound. A b-b? Slingshot?

I would get vet help if possible.

And keep them inside away from flies or your going to be dealing with maggots not something you want to happen, They diff need medical attention soaked in warm Epsom salt water then feather cut away and treated with Veterycin spray or Triple antibiotic. nothing with pain med in it. Sure looks like a puncture wound.

we just found this same wound on one of our runner hens. what the hell is it? i picked the scab off. there wasnt anything under it other than a hole.....no fluid came out. less than a week ago we lost one of our runner hens to the fox we had been feeding to keep him from taking their eggs. Ferris (the one who was taken) was on the nest and most likely protecting her eggs when Tricki (fox) opted to just take her. Now Pogo (the one with the new wound) is on the nest. did the fox do this and we are just now seeing it bc its finally swelled up enough? im worried. we do fortunately have an avian vet w/i 20 mins from our home but i have managed to treat bumble foot and fly strike on my own so if this is something we can fix here i would prefer that. not to mention Pogo isnt handled often so to cage her and put her in the car would be extremely stressful.
