Two dumb questions

I was letting my chickens free range a bit but they stopped eating their feed and we're laying some strange eggs. So today is the first they have not been allowed to come out of the run. They are now obsessed with the wood chips in the coop. Why are the scratch it away and eating the tiny partials?

Next question. I have a flock of 8... 1 leghorn 2 rir 2 br and 3 EE... believe it or not my tiny leghorn is the boss. I noticed recently that she seems to be targeting one of the ee's that is larger than her. It is unprovoked, she seem to go out of her way to peck this one chicken... what's up with that?

On your 2nd Q, leghorns seems to be aggressive. I got love-hate relationship w/ mine, I got 3 of them that rules the flock they guard the food stations and the roost and peck on my barred rocks and wyandottes so they'd been wearing pinless peepers for few months now. On the other hand I love the fact that they lay eggs almost 7 days a week. They are so consistent that the food-egg ratio is almost worth it (still undecided wether to cull them) when my Rhode Island reds started their egg productions.

They are probably digging through the scratch looking for seeds or bugs.

She really only seems to have an issue with the one bird. I love her shes me little egg machine! And cam eat nearly her weight in food. I think there is a lot of hormones running through the flock as they have all started laying or are going to soon. I guess I'll just keep an eye on them. I keep telling the EE your bigger than her, peck her back.
