Hi everyone, this is my first post here as I can’t find any other threads with this exact problem. I have a flock of seven ducks, six females and one male, and recently two of my females have been ganging up on another female (they will sit on top of her and bite at her neck, and the whole flock seems really distressed while this is happening). We live on a small lake in Maine, so while the ducks have plenty of space to wander in the yard it is quite cold and they don’t have the easy water access they are used to in the summer. Does anyone know why the two ducks would be fighting one other so much?? Any advice helps, thank you all!
It's possible that they may have been picking on her along, but now that the lake is frozen it is more difficult for her to evade them. I would separate the two trouble makers from the flock for a week or so if it is possible.
