two hens in the same box

So.. I have 6 hens- 2 have been laying for a couple weeks, and I got my first green EE egg this morning! Yay!

I have 2 nest boxes, but they only ever use one.

Right now my white rock is sitting on top of my australorpe in the favorite nest box.

I think I better get another chick-n-nesting box!

I have that too, except under the pile o chickens are some eggs they both seem determined to hatch.

They've been doing it all along, and the eggs are pretty close to done. Do you think they'd leave now? My husband and I jokingly call it co-parenting!

We have 11 hens and two large nesting boxes, however our hens only use the one box and the same corner of it. They are good about it and take turns without fighting. If one is laying the others just form a line waiting for her to finish instead of using the other side of that box or the other box. Its funny seeing them wait in line when they don't have to, but if it is what they want it is fine.

Congrats on your green egg! My five share 2 boxes, and they've done the twoferone too...lol
On the right, Mary Ann couldn't hold it any longer, so climbed in behind Ginger.

I need to make some better nest boxes.. I had 4 (FOUR!!!) heaped on top of each other this morning... it's just a corner! It's not even a box! use a different corner ladies!

I could have 40 nest boxes for my 12 hens.....and they would STILL bicker over that one special box
