What do you all do to protect your animals when you leave your farm ? Even to go to the grocery or gone for a longer time ? What sort of protection do you use when you are not there. When you are home, no problem....SSS

People will just take anything you have just because it is there. Now not everybody but you know they are out there.

We live in an area where we have a really good "neighborhood watch". We have really good neighbors not only immediately to the left and right, but also on the properties that are farther up or down the road - and we all just keep an eye on things. We know the comings and goings, the people and cars that belong and those that do not - and no one is shy about saying something seems off if/when they see it. (this also works for kids who think they might get away with something while mom and dad aren't home, lol, as my daughter has learned)
We've been there since 2003 and this system has yet to fail any of us (neighbor to the left had one theft, but that was an "inside job" by someone who "belonged" there - friend of their grandson - so them being around the place didn't set off any alarm bells for anyone). This also comes in handy when one or the other of us on the road goes away as there are plenty of folks familiar with your place and your animals who are more than willing to pitch in and farm sit.
