Hello everyone, I have two hens that each became broody a few weeks ago, I put 3 eggs under each of them for a total of 6 and 5 hatched with the last one dying as it tried to get out of the shell. its been about 2 days and they are actively walking around eating and drinking with the mothers.

I have an issue where one of the mothers is picking on a chick that the other mother hen hatched, there is 2 white, 2 black and one brown chick's. they where walking around with both mother hens with no issues but now one mother hen picks on the brown one but not the others. I had to remove the mother hen from the chicks in fear it would kill the chick, as of right now the one mother hen is caring for all 5 chicks and they all seem fine but the other mother is walking around the garage try to get back in, when I step out for anything she runs to me and follows in hope that I pick her up and take her back in.

I figure if she sleeps in the coop with her flock maybe she will forget about the chicks, I am not sure since I am an amateur, can anyone please tell me why she wants to hurt the chick and is it correct for me to band her from the chicks ??

Thank you
