History: Flock of 4 city backyard hens, 3 are about 2 years old and one is 7 years old. No eggs since last Summer. Last Fall I took one of the hens to the Vet and she was diagnosed with coccidia. Last Fall I gave 1 round of coccidiostat (3 days) , one month later 1 round of dewormer then about two months later, a second round of coccidiostat (5 full days). Actually some diarhea in these chickens over the Winter, but I was never really sure which one had it. I finally weighed them all and they all felt fairly strong except Punkin, who only weighed about 3.4 pounds and felt very thin and weak.

The older hen has been lethargic and Saturday I noticed she has diarhea so I took a fecal to the Vet. (I gave her some feed soaked in Buttermilk). I called today and they said they didn't find anything.

Yesterday one of my younger chickens (Punkin - a Kellog's chicken) had diarhea so I brought her inside, the picture is of her poo. I am going now to collect a second fecal from this second chicken and take it to the Vet. She's dangerously thin.

(My hens are free range and get fresh water daily, actually it's a pretty sweet setup. Their appetites are pretty good except for Mary who is still lethargic and thin.)

At wit's end - thoughts?

What Coccidiostat are you using? Dosage?
What did you worm them with/

Can you get a better photo of the poop, it's very dark and hard to see. Photos of the hens would be good too.
Do you provide any feed at all or are they totally free range?

Which one is the worst? The oldest one? Have you felt for an egg?
Any chance they got into something mold, toxic or rotten?

The last time (maybe November? I don't keep very good records) I Used Corid 20% soluble powder (amprolium) - (1 + 1/2 T)/gal. for 3 days plus 3/4 T/gal for 2 additional days for a total of 5 days. The Dewormer for goats was safeguard (fenbendazole) but don't really remember the dosage, I got it from this site...

I do feed my hens mostly Nutrena pellets but they also get SOME cracked corn, black oil seeds and other treats which hopefully is 10 % or less of their diet... My sickest one is Punkin, the young Kellog's hen. I have her in the garage now with a little bowl of her feed mixed with yogurt. Thanks for your interest/help. Pics to follow.

Yesterday Punkin had bloody diarhea so bad I thought she had prolapsed. But when I brought her in to fix it, she was fine and did not seem egg bound. None of them feel or seem eggbound.

Can you take some poop samples to your vet for testing?
If you see the bloody poop again, try to get some photos of that.

You could try re-treating with the Corid again - mix 1 1/12 teaspoons powder with 1 gallon of water give that for 5-7days as the sole source of drinking water. Then step it down to 3/4 teaspoon per gallon of water for another 3-5days.

I would check her over really well. Make sure the crop is empty in the morning, look for lice/mites, feel the abdomen for bloat/swelling or fluid. Is she laying eggs?
Bloody poop can be from something else besides Coccidiosis so seeking vet care is always best.
