Two out of three Silkie chicks are now dead.

Your living chick looks like a golden laced wyndotte to me. check out the blog for them they sure are pretty. Yours is showing all the coloring to me.

I'm definitely no expert, but 95* seems a bit hot?? I know mine at one week preferred it around 90 and even then they spread out to sleep away from the light. By two weeks they preferred 85* or less. And of course, that could very well have nothing to do with it. Either way, I'm so sorry, it's hard to lose these little ones.

Silkies have crests on their head. Someone either didn't know what they were talking about or fooled ya. Its a cutie though!!

Here is a pic of a silkie

They have crests on their heads where feathers will grow in making a hat. It is noticeable from the start.

OP - No that is not a silkie. Looks to be a golden laced cochin bantam to me, but I could be wrong.

Also appears to be about 3 - 4 weeks old. I wouldn't put it any younger than 3 or any older than 4.

Eta: The chick looks clear and healthy from the pics.

If you were feeding cracked grains, did you give them grit? That is a whole lot different than feed mushed up into crumbles that they were eating.
This is the first thing I thought of also. (5 degrees at their age is too warm also.better a little cool at 3-4 weeks.Your little one needs some friends too. Wishing you the best of luck on your flock.
