Two questions on eggs...

While my hen will lay a editable egg with a egg shell, her second one has no shell, just an egg sack with yolk.

Oddly enough one of my girls laid two eggs in the last 24 hour period. One at her usual 7:30am time yesterday, and then a thinner shelled one from the perch overnight.

From what I've read sometimes, for some reason, the ovary will release a yolk before the last egg is laid. The second will usually be shell less or at least very thin shelled, because the shell gland hasn't recovered from the previous one yet. But its possible it was released just an hour or so before the first egg was laid, and so did have time to get a good shell.

A “fart egg” is an egg with no yolk. It may sometimes contain a bit of reproductive tissue instead. They are also called wind eggs, fairy eggs, or cock eggs.... seems like there’s another synonym too.....

Since there’s no yolk, they will be smaller than usual.
Get one of those, and the yolk's on you! :lau
