I should have known sooner but honestly, these combs popped out overnight! That said, I think in my gut I’ve suspected for a while, just from behavior and growth, but one little guy confirmed for me this morning with a full blown cock-a-doodle-dooooo-

Two of our three Speckled Sussex she’s are he’s.

As much as I love them, four roos in a flock of 13 sounds like trouble. I’d like to rehome them with folks who’ll let them grow up and be roosters. They’re 10 weeks old, lovely and healthy, and raised on organic feed and free ranging. Friendly and inquisitive true to breed description, and already a little roostery. As in confident. Originally from McMurrays (who reimbursed me).

We live an hour north of Asheville, NC. If you have a place for one of these handsome guys, please be in touch.

photo of single bird is their ā€œsisterā€ of same age, for comparison

UPDATE!

Where but on BYC could you post to a forum, reach an international readership of gazillions, and ultimately rehome these lucky birds with a new family just over the mountain? Itā€˜s true. :yesss:
