Paulette,

I just went through TWO weeks worth of soft shelled eggs (called wind eggs) everyday - so I feel your pain/concern/etc...

Good news to be shared -- she laid her first REAL egg today! She laid it in the middle of the yard, and she was just like yours, never laid anywhere but the box prior to this.

Anyway, I just wanted to share so that you knew someone that got through it.

Another idea is to dry out and crush your egg shells and feed them back to them. I've been doing that and it seems to have worked.

Give your layers GRIT . they need more calcium for better eggshell quality

They've got grit. They don't like it. I hide the eggshells in their food and it seems to do the trick. thanks.

Try giving them some yogurt or buttermilk- something with a high RDA of calcium. This works with my Golden Comet and they all love it!
