Hello, we moved to a place that is much smaller and brought two of our Sumatra chickens with us. We have two hens; a mother (around 2yrs old) and her "baby" chick (around 1yr old) she hatched on her own. Keep in mind Sumatras are not meat birds nor are they as avid a layer as the standard chicken. During the summer we get approximately 6 eggs per week from them. They aren't laying at the moment with it being cooler. They are currently in a pen but do fly and would do well with some room like a larger yard, farm, or other similar area. We don't feed them egg laying feed as we just let them live a natural life and get natural eggs. Know that they have been known to fly up in a lower hanging tree branch at times. We would like to adopt them to someone that has more space for them.

We respectfully request you only ask questions if you are truly serious about wanting to adopt them AND live in the area or would drive to this area. We are not looking to ship them or anything like that. If you are interested we would also like to know what your intentions are with them and what type of area you can provide. Thank you.

Love my Sumatra cockrell, hope you can find them a home. Here's your state thread too: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/florida-always-sunny-side-up.305793/

Thanks AGeese
Update: The mother is now broody (her daughter isn't) so if anyone needs a hen to lay on eggs and raise them she will do it. I prefer to adopt them out together and ensure they have a larger area to move to then they currently have. If interested see original post above.
