Two very different speckled Sussex chicks, male AND female?

Our two speckled Sussex’s have grown and look extremely different, one has grown very fast and is big compared to the other. (The bigger one also seems to have a swollen belly) They’re 3 almost 4 weeks old. Could they be a male and female, or just really different? The supposed male (the bigger one, named Rooster) is lighter colored with more feathers and much much larger. (The other ones name is Falcon)

They look about the same to me....nothing screaming cockerel. One may just be growing at a slightly faster rate.

Here's one of my SS pullets. She's a bit older than yours... but looks like your one. There is quite a bit of variation in SS feathers between breeders, and it is a bit early to sex them still. You will know soon enough!

I'm guessing that your larger chick is a cockerel, and I'm not so sure about the smaller bird. My SS cockerels from hatcheries had larger combs and more white on their chests than the pullets.

My two Speckled Sussex pullets looked like the one on the left at that age, nothing like the one on the right.

Um.... in this latest batch of pics do you have both birds pictured? If so, you have two cockerels.
