Hi everyone
We hatched two bantams a fortnight ago and I was wondering if anyone could help with the type of bantams they are. My wife bought a selection of 6 bantam eggs. Unfortunately two didn’t develop and sadly two stopped around day 10. We now have two gorgeous little bantams but after searching many photos I’m still non the wiser of the type of bantams they are. We Amber (yellow) and Luna (black). Any help would be greatly appreciated

My wife works in a school which has animals and part of her job is caring for the animals they have. We hatched two chickens last year and previous years we’ve looked after chicks which were hatched at the school until they were old enough to go up to the school with the other chickens. I never thought I could love a chicken but they’re absolutely gorgeous!

Luna is a black frizzle Cochin, (and to me looks to be a cockerel) and I'm not complete sure about Amber, maybe some kind of OEGB? About gender, its still much too young to bet certain, so cockerel is only a guess. Judging by that huge comb though, I would be surprised if Luna was a she.
@MysteryChicken may be able to help with Amber. Beautiful babies!

Thank you for your help! I’ve Googled black frizzle cochin and its not a chicken I came across when searching previously. Oh I do hope they’re both hens! I’m not sure Alex (the school's cockerel) will take to another cockerel! Either way they’ll both be very loved and and if another cockerel isn’t accepted there are options to rehome

Hopefully I'm wrong. :fl
Post photos again at 4 weeks and I can give you another guess. You can only tell for sure at 7-8 weeks though.

Too young to sex. It appears that the lighter one is crested? Are they purebreds? From a specific hatchery? If pure, I have to guess a Pyncheon and a Black Frizzle Cochin.
I couldn't quite tell if the lighter one was crested, but I definitely noticed the difference between the two. According to Google images, they look pretty similar.
