Two Week old chick having a hard time Pooping

Enemas will make a baby chick explode. I've never heard anyone even suggesting it before, quite honestly, probably because an enema would make a baby chick explode.

Prep H is harmless. You can try it on the swollen vent, but it will do nothing for the constipation. Oil is the only effective treatment.

k thanks. I had read it somewhere about the enema. I put some Prep H on and have the oil. She will eat it off the spoon. one teaspoon? She actually went to the bathroom and it wasn't hard it was soft.

If she eats the oil off the spoon, you have won half the battle already. If she's pooping soft, things are looking even better!

Let her have the teaspoon of oil and then make sure she has access to fresh water, and there's every reason to believe she will be fine.

All that remains is for the inflamed vent to heal, and coconut oil will do that. If you want to use Prep H in addition to the coconut oil, that's fine.

I have challenged vision. Next time you post a pic, if you select the "full size image" we can all view it much more closely. But what I'm seeing doesn't look too bad. It should heal pretty quickly. Just keep the coconut oil on it and that will also help keep poop from sticking.

Coconut oil has natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties, so keep using it.
