Two week old chick with weird growth near ear.....

She has a growth under her ear, maybe on her lobe. It looks almost warty. She is definitely bothered by it, itching and shaking her head. Here is a photo.


Any ideas on what it is and how to help her would be greatly appreciated. I am new to chickens and welcome all the help I can get. Thanks so much!

Could it be where the chick has scratched itself, or been pecked? Can you check the chicks for mites and lice, since those can cause irritation and scratching. Try a little Nustock cream on it, or something with a little menthol in it to help with itching, and to prevent pecking.
