I have just started my flock and all my pullets are 2 weeks old. I got several breeds including black stars, rirs, buff orps, and amerucaunas. One of the black stars has rolled one of the marbles out of the waterer and made a nest to put it in and is sitting on it. Should I be worried? What should i do?

They are just chicks at play. Broodiness is a hormone thing so she is way too young for this. They love to play with toys; give them a couple more, and move things around every day. Get them outdoors as soon as you can, if they are in, because what is natural for them at this age is to forage, to peck and scratch. You can also bring them a piece of sod to play with.

X 2 - this is not broodiness and is nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks, I was concerned because she was the only one doing that and she was very defensive of the marble if I tried to put it back in the waterer. Every time I go back out to the coop she has the same marble again sitting on it. LOL
