Tylan 50 for the whole flock

What are you treating? Mycoplasma?

Tylan has a wide dosage range of 10-40mg/kg given 3 times a day, so if you can only give twice a day, then yes, I would increase the dose.
Sorry to barge in on someone else’s thread. I just posted a question below on how to get the Tylan 50 out of the sealed bottle if I’m going to give it to my hen orally. She’s in bad shape and I’m trying to save her.

Help! I finally found Tylan 50 but could only get the injectable kind. How do I get it out of the sealed bottle if I’m going to give orally to only one hen? Apologies for the ignorant question. I’ve had a round of fowl pox and one of my hens is suffering way more than the others who are all getting better. Thanks in advance!

You will need a syringe with a needle. Push the needle through the rubber gasket, draw up the dose of medication into your syringe. Remove the needle from your syringe and then give the medication orally.

Do you have photos of your hen or a thread about her?

Fowl Pox is a virus, but if she has secondary bacterial infection the Tylan may help.

Do you need Tylan50 dosing?

Thank you for the quick response. I caught my pharmacist before they closed and got a few syringes. I have the dosage from an earlier post. Frankly I think she has a secondary infection after the fowl pox. It’s been a crappy year for my chickens. I think I was very lucky for a long time and this crazy weather doesn’t help.

Just gave her the first dose. Hoping this helps!!

Oh good, I'm glad you were able to get some syringes.

I hope the meds help too. Keep us posted.

Use a needle and syringe. You can also gauge the amount easier
