Ignore any old post that says it can be given once a day, and ignore the amounts that go along with them, they are wrong. Not sure why so many people think that way is correct, lol.

Anyway, if I were going to give it I would give chickens 50 mg per pound per day *orally* which works out to:
  • 0.25 ml per pound of body weight 4 times a day
  • 0.33 ml per pound of body weight 3 times a day
  • 0.5 ml per pound of body weight 2 times a day
The above amounts are based on what Elanco (makers of Tylan) say the oral dose is when using Tylan Powder.

Tylan works best if you can give it many times a day, so don't do twice a day unless you have to.

There is a veterinarian on a chicken vet facebook page that says:
"0.2 ml per pound every 6-8 hours" She also says that most people give way too little.
Her suggestion is more conservative than mine, so do whatever you feel is best.

Does that help?

I weighed each bird and gave them .2 per pound per bird. I gave them the injectable kind under the skin. And I will give them it every 6 to 8 hours Saturday and Sunday... the best I can do after that is 2x a day

On the days that you give twice a day, I would suggest that you increase to 0.4 ml per pound.
