Aight, my girls caught what I'm about 99% sure is Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. (note: no labs were done but symptoms are classic. Swollen sinuses, bubbling gummy eyes, sneezing etc)

My vet, who doesn't really know chickens, gave me a script for Tylan soluble. I have a flock of 12 birds and dosed it at 2g per gallon (I have two one-gallon waterers. They have no other sources of water.). I replace the water and medication daily. They've been on it for two days. Most of them seem to not be worsening. My bantam cochin, however, seems worse for wear.

How long before you see results? I'm keeping them on for five days.

I got prescribed it for 7 days at 0.5mg per litre. It cleared up in a couple of days, but do the full course even if they seem to recover part way through. Afterwards give them some probiotics to boost them back up. I give entrodex in the water.

I plan to give probiotics afterwards. I'm just worried about it not working. I've had such a rough start with this batch that I'm beginning to feel hopeless. Ten years of poultry and this group has been the worst luck I've ever had.

The dosage I used is a little higher than what you are using. Try upping it to 2.5g per 5 litres over 7 days. Is she drinking enough? Could you separate her to control how much and what she has?

I can bump it up. They may be drinking less because of the weather-- it's cold and wet and gross.

Separating her is problematic-- weather's too bad to have her out on her own and I'm not equipped to bring her inside. I wish I had less birds so I could deal with the oral 50 dosing, but now I'm worried that they're not drinking enough water to get the proper dosage.

Also wondering this—we have one who has pretty bad what is probably mg. We tried giving it orally to just her for 5 days because that’s as much as we could do. It’s hard! And last I checked she didn’t seem any better. Still foamy eyes, swollen sinuses, clogged nostrils, and smells awful. Is putting it in the water an option that works well? We have another hen a bit snotty but not as bad as the poor silkie. We didn’t treat her because we didn’t have the time.

If you could give it over a longer period of time like 7-10 days they would get the full treatment.

Putting it in the water is best if you are treating a number of birds. I would inject if I only needed to treat one bird but I wouldn't put injectable in the water. Are you sure you are treating mg? You may need a different medication. You would need a vet to accurately diagnose and prescribe the correct medication.

It’s got all the same symptoms as mg. I was recommended to use tylan injectable given orally by some educated byc members.

"equipped" is as equipped does... Caved and brought her in. I want to watch her intake. She's still eating, haven't seen her drink yet, but I'll keep an eye on her.
