Type and gender help

I just got home & posted 4 pics above of our 4wk old quail. Any guidance on type & clues to what gender would be greatly appreciated! I'm thinking Itailian after seeing others at a swap meet. I know my chickens & ducks & guinea. But quail is a new adventure for me!

She luckily is recovering ... I thought she wouldn't make it ... she was realy shattered.

Side fact ... the Pearl Fee before was the attacker.
She is totally related to humans. She cannot deal with other quails. She already hurt three other hens. I gotta keep her in single prison. She is owned by my daughter ... and both love each other. Culling is no option 🙈
It sounds like your daughter has an odd-looking pet budgie ;)! I guess it's not too different from a child having a pet gerbil or a hamster in their rooms; just a little ... ummm ... unique?
Of course, I have no room to complain. My own daughter had a pet Silkie "house rooster" for two years. Now THAT was interesting!

They are all Italians. And yes, the 2 close up photos probably are males.

Here are my 2 year old Italians....

Black speckels on the chest is a characteristic of females and the blank, little bit orange chest for males.

This very good illustrated here ...
