Types of fast growing trees that chickens won't eat

is there anything that would be beneficial to plant for the hens like a specific shrub or something that attracts bugs that they could eat

It doesn't attract bugs (except bees, I suppose), it is supposed to repel flies, but I grow citronella. It is indestructible, I've seen the chooks pecking at it (it's in a big pot), but they can't demolish it and there are no signs of "chook attack".

The main thing is to let a plant get established, then the chooks can "have at it" with abandon.
