Types of feed for dual purpose meat birds

Hi Everyone,
I just joined and I'm expecting my first batch of chicks this week, 25 Buff Orpingtons. I plan on butchering most of them but saving 3-4 for egg laying. How long should I feed chick starter, when if ever do I switch to a meat feed before I butcher, and when should I feed laying feed to the rest? Thanks a lot. I'm in Northern Florida.

from Ohio. So glad you joined. Generally you feed chick starter/grower until about 20 weeks, then they are switched to a layer feed. Good luck.

Would it be a mistake to feed Buff Orpingtons meat rations with very high protein even if you're going eat them? What is the best time to slaughter?
