I recently rescued a baby chick a few weeks ago and my grandparents have been feeding him rice, mealworms, and now Wild Bird Feed... I don't know much about raising baby chicks and I wanted to learn... are these types of food okay? Just wanna make sure it's safe.

I think it is best to give them chick starter, That way you know they are getting all the right nutrients for their rapidly growing bodies. If you do give them other types of food, you have to make sure they have chick grit.

bird feed is seed and they should have fine grit then. i use layer feed for all my chicks n goslings

Quaker Quick Oats are good feed too, with hardboiled eggs. I feed both of those at some level even though I also use chick starter. But lots of chicks have been raised with just Quaker oats and eggs.

I feed my chicks Dumor 24% chick starter. Once or twice a day, I give them a small amount of alfalfa, crimped oats and then chick grit to help digest the treats that aren’t food. Just give them a small amount because you want them to still eat their chick starter to get all the nutrients. If they eat too much of the other then they may not eat as much of the food they need the most. I hope this helps. @Mossy Dell Thanks for the tip
tip about eggs and Oatmeal. I’m going to try that as a small treat here and there.
