Types of peas at the Mill Help me out

My local feed mill does a coarse grind for his grower and he adds just a little molasses to bind the vit/min mix the birds love it I think it helps them eat the alfalfa he puts in there too....mine don't waste it anyways

OK the two of you convinced me to give it a try with my dry mix... I will add a little molasses when mixing.. Can't hurt some nice trace minerals in there too..

By the way put a little molasses in your garden too! The beneficial bacteria love molasses too..

I find it at my feed mill in 5 gallon buckets......I use it too for baby turkey poults seems to help them off to a good start and for any stressed bird I use it in the water the color of weak tea is how I make it....

Chris,
You are indeed a walking encyclopedia of poultry knowledge....!

Yep One should always go for the un-sulfered molasses.

Mine eat split peas not ground up, and hate them. I have ground them in my grinder, but what a powdery mess! Even worse than wheat bran!

I'm not buyin' any more peas! My humble suggestion would be to see if your chickens will eat the peas before buying large quantities. I'm still working on getting rid of mine.

They love pumpkin seeds and peanuts (which I crush, just in case). Oh and BOSS.

Mine eat their peas. They peas are not powdery they are nicely cracked in my grinder.. That is good advice about trying them first to make sure the birds will eat them.
Lets just say I was a bit worried sitting on 500lbs of peas and the chickens would not eat them....

them! DH just planted a bed that I had cleared of the previous crop. One bed of peas had stopped producing but now that we are getting down into the 90's, they are blooming again and I found small peas today.
