I only had a hatch with a large air cell once or twice. I was panicking after everything I read, but all of the eggs that went into the hatcher, hatched. This was the point I decided to try the dry incubating. My container had leaked and so had the styro bator, so the water left and I didn't check it for days because there should have been plenty of water and I couldn't see the container because it was under the eggs.

I also keep my hum at 30-40 day 1-18 and then up it to 55-60 day 18-21, ive had great hatch rates doing it this way.... I would guess in your case the hum getting so low had nothing to do with the chick not making it, I would be more concerned about the hum being to high !!!!

I did dry the first couple times and had a good hatch... when I tried to regulate the humidity I started having problems where only 1 or 2 would hatch. Plus shipped eggs I don't have much luck with.

That said I don't think a dip in humidity is going to hurt the eggs 2/3 of the way. Now if they were in the hatcher I would worry.
