Well.... I've fought with death on this baby but in the end, well, she wouldn't have made it.
When she hatched she got both legs tangled in the membrane of the egg and floundered about for a while before hubby saw her and pulled the then dried membrane off. Her legs didn't really want to work right after that and one had a tendon that allowed it to bend backwards instead of the way it was supposed to. We've been keeping a little 'brace' on it hoping to help fix the tendon, looked better last night, she was walking somewhat. This morning though, the other foot had curled up and she wasn't able to scoot around at all. Put a 'shoe' on the curled toes but then that leg stopped working.
I decided to clean her up and try something different..... that's when I noticed her vent wasn't formed right, she wasn't able to pass poo properly. She was also bleeding a bit from the odd shaped hole that was there. I looked her over a little more and decided she would not have a reasonably decent life and made the hard decision to cull.
I hate having to do that but.... nothing suffers here. If it's in pain and I can't fix it or the vet can't fix it I release them from the pain. Done it many times before, and will continue to do so but dang it she was cute!
