I ate way too much!
Two pieces of fried chicken, 10 slices of fried green tomatoes on my plate - not counting the pieces I "test-tasted" while frying.
A bowl of collards.
A square of cornbread.
*UGH*
Anybody got any alka seltzer?

quit eating yourself.

ever have sisters that made you hit yourself when you were a kid and kept saying... quit hitting yourself... quit hitting yourself... why are you hitting yourself?

I had four of them and I'm the youngest! I also have one brother that they say used to try and kill me every chance he got. He already four sisters. He figured if he could "off" me, my parents would try again and give him a brother.
Did I mention the fact that my family put the FUN in dysfunctional?

okay totally stupid question, how do you prepare fried green tomatoes, I know you use green tomatoes and fry them but what do you fry them in? do you get them crispy? *hi Jack over* Sorry OP!

Quote:
The way I do it is slice them like you would for a hamburger
coat them with either flour or cornmeal (better)
Put some oil in a pan (prefer canola)
Fry them until they are brown on the outside.
Just like you fry zucchini.

OP... you made me crave a nice home cooked southern meal like I grew up eating... Just might have to give my northern husband a taste of something southern for dinner tonight!

Ohh I love fried green tomatoes ..............

Hey Julie this is how I prepare my maters.

First you need to slice a green mater about 1/4" slices.

In a small bowl mix 1/2 C. cornmeal, 1/4 C. Flour, lil' seasoned salt and some pepper.

Dip your mater slices in flour mixture, then dip into eggs (beaten), then coat
with flour mix again, and throw dem maters in some hot grease.
When they are lightly brown they are done. MMMMmmmmm
fried maters.

And Gritsar I always eat too much
