UGH!! Loaded Incubator - Received notice of power outage..

Loaded the incubator 3 days ago and have now gotten a notice from the electric company that there will be a power outage next week for 4 hours... I DO not want to loose these eggs!

Do all you experts out there think it would be OK if I waited for the power to go out, pack up the bator and drive 5 minutes to town and plug it in then do that all over again when my power comes back on 4 hours later?

hope someone has an answer, I would say yes, but the shaking the eggs in the car, I dont know about that...

I think 4 hours is fine to be without power especially this early in the game. How warm is your house? I also wouldn't open the incubator at all during those 4 hours and for a few hours afterwards, either. Remember mom gets up off the nest, too.

Also make sure your bator is plugged into a surge protector for when the power comes back on.

Probably fine but you can get a inverter or with some incubator a lighter plug an just use your car...

I have one of those, you plug it into your lighter or power port and you can plug just about anything into it, got it at Radio Shack for about $60, hope theyre out there cheaper somewhere...

Ok. So don't laugh, but my SUV has electrical outlets in it. I think a lot of newer SUVs do. If you have a neighbor with one, maybe you could ask to plug your bator into their car for a bit? Of course, some people have generators too, so I would ask around?

Wrap the whole thing up in a few blankets an hour or two before so they warm up, and leave it covered for the 4 hours. It should hold its heat well enuf for the eggs.
