Ugh ... lost all 4 chickens last night

What does the neighbor think of your chickens? They could have poisoned them from the hating of the noise. (Just throwing something out there that is probably wrong but something to question) :hmm

Sorry, I'm not really caught up here but Yes, a healthy hen only lays an egg every 24-25 hours. If you had 4 chickens and found 13 eggs, that suggests that the neighbors didn't even check on your hens for three days. Assuming you let them know to gather eggs every day when they checked on them, then the neighbors most likely didn't let them out for three days, granted they didn't collect eggs. Three days strait, with no food or water ( also assuming you keep the f and w outside) in a hot coop sitting in the sun; that results in all four hens overheating and dying after a few days

None of this makes any sense. Either you are reading more into things than people are telling you or you are mixing up information or you are clutching at straws to find the answer. The chance of more than one hen laying more than 1 egg in the same 24 hrs with a flock of just 4 is unlikely. The chance of that being a cause of death of all of them, which you seem to be suggesting, is beyond comprehension.

For them all to die at once in such a short period of time, this was either an environmental factor like them overheating, a predator or a fast acting poison.
Im thinking the same thing @rebrascora. Over heating could be it because overheating is deadly to chickens. It could have also been a predator. How secure is your coop?

Agreed , overheating and eggs not collected.... I don’t trust neighbors story

I agree. 4 chickens acting perfectly normal and healthy don't just drop dead at the same time. As @snow5164 stated circumstances are not in your neighbors favor and I think they could be hiding the truth or just being neglectful of the birds left in their care because they don't care.

It may be hard for you to accept this as a possibility, but some people have very little value for the lives of animals, especially most poultry. So sorry you're having to go through this :hugs
