Ugh newbies

Was the shell there....was it thin?
Thin and soft shelled eggs, common with new layers are fair game for eating IMO,
and won't necessarily lead to a habit of breaking solid shells for eating,
tho it is best to try to grab these asap to deter a possible bad habit,
hard to do that working your hours.
I can't saw it was overly thin. I'll throw one more reason I feel I may have a problem. I think I have 3 layers right now.

Two of them are laying light brown eggs and another is laying a medium shade of brown. Noticeably darker. Well the darker brown eggs are the only ones I've found eaten.

I'm wondering if she's laying them and immediatly breaking into and eating them.

It's very hard to say...unless you see it...but it is possible.

Providing plenty of animal protein and calcium can help,
lack of nutrients can be the reason for egg eating.

Well found 3 eggs today. Two of them on the ground none had been eaten and I had the chickens locked in the coop all day. Good sign.
