I have a knack for making money, never a lot of money, but everything turns some sort of profit.

Also does the locak 4H/FFA progrm have a quail program? and why not?

With the whole economy in the can, would you want to promote self suffiency, maybe with workshops on quail at the local library, what about a workshop at the community college's community workshop series?

I've found that I can sell the quail on craig's list pretty easily out here in Phoenix (knock on wood). Without fail, not just the people that end up coming and buying them, but every single phone call but one about them has been from some type of immigrant. A lot of eastern European people and a few Mexican. I don't know your community, but if it's diverse you might have more luck marketing them to the non-native folks. Maybe the majority of plain ol' Americans haven't caught on to how awesome quail are yet.

My quail, chickens and ducks pay for themselves (and keep me with plenty of eggs), it took maybe a year to get caught up, making up for the coop costs and everything. I don't make extra money from them (unless you count the money I spend on seeds and seedlings which the animals also pay for) But I'm not putting in any extra effort to make more money off of them. Maybe you could talk to a feed store about supplying them with baby quail from time to time...?

Oh there ya go the feed store that would be a good place. I am thinking of looking into what I would need to have to sell my eggs at the farmers market

Ok I've come up with some ok ideas I think lol:

Ship out eggs Mon-Thurs.

Whatever eggs I don't sell I can pickle to sell and eat.

See if my feed store would want chicks.

Put Ads on craigslist & in my feed store for adult birds.

I'm going to do some research to see if its ok if I sell processed birds, eggs, and pickled eggs, at my dads store if I can prolly won't make to much but I bet I'll get some regulars.

This might work out...

And I think their is some cultural diversity from where I'm from so I think I would be able to sell some quail.

I wouldnt get rid of your present birds yet. Check some of your laws. Some states will let you have the quail for personal use only. That meant no selling of eggs or birds until you have a liscense. Here in oregon, I dont need a permit until I want to sell some. So maybe you can keep them until you get the permit to sell.. I would check it out. Maybe send some anonamous emails to the appropriate places..

I'm assuming it is illegal to sell quail eggs on craigslist or list them in the local paper without a license. That kinda sucks. I might look into this some more.

It is perfectly LEGAL to sell eggs...chicks...and birds on craigslist...if you have all the required paperwork/permits you need if the species requires it. I sell Coturnix on craigslist but never tryed the local paper.

Your lucky you don't have to pay $180 for raising Quail as we do in Texas if we want to have more than 1,000 birds....
