Ugh! The Crows

The neighbor had a couple of antelope give birth in his yard last year. As he watched from the window a couple of ravens killed one of the newborns. He wanted to shoo them away, but didn't want to disturb the other two antelope that had just given birth. He was afraid they'd abandon the newborns. Granted these were ravens and not crows.

Ravens can be terrible predators. I read about a goat breeder that was losing a lot of baby kids to ravens. Ravens are very smart, and they can imitate sounds. These ravens would vocalize like a baby goat, and while the herd owner went looking for the "lost kid" the ravens were attacking her baby goats in the pens. The herd owner was advised that the only real way to stop this was to kill all the ravens in the area since ravens teach their young what to eat. Killing baby goats was a new behavior in that area, and she needed to eliminate the birds that practiced it.
