I tried golf balls, mustard eggs and checking the boxes every 40 minutes. I didn't have the means to change my boxes into roll aways. I was losing about 4 eggs a day and was afraid that she was teaching the bad habit to others. I had an idea of which one it was, but the day I caught her red handed....er I mean yolky beaked, she went to chicken heaven. She was one of my older girls that was not laying. She would just hang out in the coop waiting for the other girls to get out of a box and then go after the freshly laid warm egg. I hated to do it, but felt it was the best thing to do for my flock. Since we culled her, I have not had a problem with any other egg eaters. Good luck, I know it is a hard thing to deal with in a flock.
