. The first batch of 27 is long gone... well only 1 left in the freezer. Batch 2 are in the brooder and are 3 weeks old... just about ready to be moved to the brooder room/coop floor.

Hi, newbie here.
I just did a quick search and this post came up.
Is it normal to see their skin when loosing their fluff and getting feathers? I got some Barred Rocks and I think they are about 2.5 weeks old. Am seeing pink skin around their necks & above their wings. ??

Thanks in advance. Got them from TSC.

100% normal. All chicks go through a really ugly stage. My australorp chick is a month old right now and you can see pink skin around her wings and on her back. My buff orp chick is nearly fully feathered and you can't see much skin anymore. Chicks grow out of that stage in a couple of weeks, at which point they're ready to go outside.

Meaties (cornish x) birds are especially ugly because they grow so fast, stink so much, and poop in great quantities.
