I used to have a hen that was fierce. When she went broody and you tried taking an egg, you risked ending up with a bloody stump where your hand used to be. Once I put her in a parrot cage to break up her broodiness. I put a 16 ounce cool whip bowl full of water in the cage. She picked it up and flung it at me. She was a pretty good shot and hit me with it. Once she went broody in a bad place, so I moved her (while wearing heavy gloves for my safety) to the coop. She didn't want the nest box so I tried putting a heavy glass pie plate full of straw up on a counter. She flung that at me too. Thankfully, she missed me that time, but the pie plate broke on the floor. The plate weighed more than she did. She dragged it to the edge of the counter top and actually tried to whack me with it. Unfortunately, Buffy was one of the victims in last year's dog massacre.
