Im not a big fan of helping chicks out of their egg but this one almost looks like it's shrink wraped! What do you think?

It should be high resolution and very large when you click to look at it.

What do you guys think? Should i go start steaming up the bathroom?

I have no idea about the shrink wrap or not...but what kind of chicken laid that egg? I'm looking to add a little more "color" to my girls next year!

It doesn't look shrink wrapped to me. The ones I've had to "steam up" have had membranes much whiter and more opaque than that. The membrane looks a bit thicker than usual, but not really dry. If it were my chick, I'd give it a bit longer before intervening, especially since the chick's got plenty of air. If the membrane starts to turn white, you can touch it lightly to see if it feels like it's stiffening. A "shrink job" is stiff to the touch and obscures any view of the veins. And also, X2 on the type of chicken ... the egg looks 2 kool!

That's not shrink wrapped yet. It's JUST right for the chick to come out. IF it gets drier you will be able to tell because it will turn white. The main thing to watch for is the downy fluff sticking to the edge of that membrane. It will look crusty, if you see that you may want to help.
